自己的家常菜
So last month, September, I was staying over at G's place for the whole month.
Most of the time, we rush back home early to cook dinner together.
Here are some of the 家常菜 that we cooked.
Err.. pardon my photos that I didn't took nicely.
Most food are like "reuse" because we bought that amount of ingredients so we need to get it cooked by those few days.
That's the disadvantage of cooking for 2.
But still, it is challenging to cook at first but I have learnt some dishes. :D

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts
Recently, I was addicted to BAKE Cheese Tarts.
So my sis said why not we try to bake ourselves/
Since she got an oven in her house, so we decided to try baking it.
For recipe, we just google and select one where we can find the most suitable ingredient.
Below is the end product.
Taste not bad, but still lose to BAKE Cheese Tarts la.. Hahaha~

Matcha-misu & Milo-misu
G have been pestering me to make Milomisu for him.
So last week on the 2nd day of 2017, I made Milomisu for him and the family.
Then mum said its nicer this time because the cream is firmer.
I guess previously I used milk rather than thickened cream.
Anyway, she said its not enough for her and the family because all of us just get to eat one small piece.
And today I made double servings!
Confirm chop sure very enough for the family. LOL!
So I made Milomisu again and also tried out Matchamisu recipe.
I actually wanted to bring one box to the office for my colleagues to try but gave up the idea because mum says confirm we all can finish it.
So, that's too bad for my colleagues.
Also, I don't want to bear the responsibility if any anyone had stomachache after eating the food I make. :p
Just tried the Matcha one.
A little too sweet but still yummy.
I actually thinking of making new flavors like Lavender, Rose and Orange.
Guess I'll just open one shop to sell tiramisu la. LOL!
Ok. I will sleep early tonight to dream...

Tryout Jenny Cookies 2nd Attempt
Last week, I tried baking the Jenny cookies but failed.
So yesterday, I attempted the 2nd time to bake it.
I am taking my mum oven into good use because she bought it 2 years ago and its been lying there since.
I got G to bring the mixer to my house so I can do the mixing without using any strength.
This time, I used the President unsalted butter.

The cookies looks better but still not very successful.
I don't know why.
I guess, I'll need to learn it from Steph.

I brought some to Veron's to try since she's staying nearer to me.
She said its nice but I think its okay only.
When I tried the one that Steph bake, it was really addictive.
Still thinking its the problem with the butter!
I really need to find Golden Churn butter to try again.
Hope my 3rd attempt will be successful. :)
Till then.

Tryout Jenny Cookies 1st Attempt (Failed)
My friend and I wanted to bake something for this month meet up.
So I suggested to bake Jenny Cookies which is very popular in HK.
I saw many copycat recipe online.
Steph has also made it for me to try and I really love it.
Therefore, we decided to bake it.
The recipe that we used is from Miss Tam Chiak: http://www.misstamchiak.com/recipe-ultimate-butter-cookies/
The ingredients that we used below.
Please note: DO NOT USE Pure Ghee butter.
We supposed to buy Golden Churn butter, but I looked everywhere for it and its out of stock.
Hence, we decided to buy Pure Ghee as a substitute.
However, Steph said the oil content is higher.
The mold is quite watery which explains why my cookies failed. :(
*icing sugar not in the photo.
After baking, the shaped cookies melted and flatten.
The taste is okay but I still can taste the flour.
We tried making second using coarse sugar because Eng Sang said it might due to the icing sugar.
It turned out that using coarse sugar, made it worst.
Everything cannot even be eaten, so we threw everything away.
Anyway, coming weekend I'll try it at home with the help of G.
Hopefully, it will turn out well.
I am going to buy another type of butter if I still cannot find Golden Churn butter.
Will be back to tell you if I succeed or not. :D
Left Engsang's house and saw a beautiful sky and took a snapshot of it. :)
Signing off~

No-Bake Chocolate Lasagna
My first kitchen's heaven post in 2016.
Today is stay at home day.
So in the evening, G came over my house and we tried doing the no-bake chocolate lasagna.
The ingredients we bought are a little different from the original recipe because we can't find some of it.
Like heavy cream, we substitute it with thickened cream and graham biscuits, we substitute it with chocolate waffles and digestive biscuits.

Luckily G brought over his mixer, so that we no need to whisk manually.

Cream cheese.

Chocolate pudding.
Here I spread a layer of cream cheese and chocolate pudding over a layer of biscuit. Repeat 2 times. Then fridge it for about 2 hours.
The original recipe states fridge for 4 hours to overnight.
But G is not staying over so at about 9.30pm, we took it out to try it.

Top it with cocoa powder and here's the final result.
My first attempt is always not very successful.
This time, I made mistake by pouring too much milk for both the cream cheese and chocolate pudding, hence it's quite watery and soft.
Still, it tastes good.
Hopefully by refrigerating overnight, it will be more firm tomorrow.

No-Bake Strawberry Cheesecake
I chance upon this box of No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake at the Cold Storage few weeks ago.
Since I don't have an oven at my house, so no bake cheesecake is the best for now.
If I remember correct, this cost about $4.85.
I decided to make it today since my sis will be coming back home tomorrow.
Maybe my uncle and auntie will be here to try if they want.

Easy recipe.

The box consist of the Crust Mix, Filling Mix and the Strawberry Topping.

Mixed it with the crust mix, sugar and melted butter.

With the help of the boyfriend to help me whipped the filling mix and milk.
Then I spread it on top of the crust mix.
Chilled it in the fridge for an hour plus.

Add the strawberry topping and its good to eat.

Overall, mum said its tasty.
Boyfriend said that the bottom crust is not enough.
For me whom don't appreciate cheesecake, I find that its okay too.
However, I find that the crust fall apart easily not sure if its because the butter is not enough.
Still, I'm happy that its successful. :)

Bread Making Class #4
Last Saturday, my friends and I had our last bread making class at Chong Pang CC.
It was a great 4 lessons and I get to learn a lot about baking a bread.
The last day was quite slack I guess.
1. Sweet Bun
The teacher didn't give us the ingredient and procedure of making for this.
He just made the dough on his own and we helped to roll the dough.
Tasted it, it doesn't taste sweet at all..

2.Red Yeast Cranberries Bun
Pink bun!

3. Longan Wolfberry Bun

Hopefully to join this kind of class again in future.
I want to learn to make hot dog bun, croissants and pastries.
Till then..
