Happy 2013 & Grin Affair Review!

Hi people~
Happy 2013 and I wish all of you have a great 2013 ahead!

I'm having a break from work since last Saturday and will start work tomorrow (considering Thursday today since its past 12 midnight).
I foresee that I gonna rush all my closing for the FY2012. Sigh~
Anyway, I'm not gonna think about work until tomorrow okay. :)

Anyway, I bought 2 cakes in a jar from Grin Affair yesterday to try and gonna review it now.
Grin Affair is located under the HDB, Block 3 of Everton Park.
I took a train down to Outram Park MRT station and using my map to locate the area by walking there.
Luckily I managed to find the place.

So here's the 2 flavours I bought are Dark Chocolate and Cookie and Cream.
Dark Chocolate is for me while Cookie and Cream is for boyfriend.
There are a total of 14 flavours, price ranging from $5.50 to $7.00.
Click the dessert menu here.

I compared it with a bottle of Pokka Green Tea.
It's quite a small jar for $5.50.

Dark Chocolate.

Cookie and Cream.

As a chocolate lover, I, of cos, personally will love the dark chocolate!
It is no doubt the bestseller.
The mousse and the sponge cake mix really well.
To me, even though its dark chocolate, it is not bitter at all.
Just because the jar is small so I find that its not enough.

Boyfriend review for the Cookie and cream is that the sponge cake is not enough for him.
However, he find that the mousse is yummy.

Overall, I find that its quite costly, but its still worth giving it a try.
The small jar is also great for giving it as a gift to friends. :)

HELLO SEPTEMBER!

We have come to the last quarter of the year.
Left a few months more, 2012 will be over and a new year will start again!

It was a great start of this month for me!
As for today, I attended 2 events, (which I will blog it later) then I met BF and we went to Comex 2012.
After which, we went window shopping before heading for a sumptuous dinner at night with my family!

Like the past year, the IT fair is always filled with many people.
BF wanted to buy some technology stuff so we just dropped by to buy and we left the place.
This time, we didn't explore the deals.

Then we went to Bugis+, which was known as Iluma before.
Even though I worked at Bugis, but I didn't went to Bugis+ until today.
There were many shops!
Retails like Uniqlo and Sephora!
Ok, next time I don't need to head down to ION to for Sephora already.

We also found a new place to chill!
Its call DartsSoul.
A new concept for playing Darts.
There's places for playing billiards ad bowling now there's place for playing darts too. Quite cool isn't it.?
You can get a table and order drinks and food.
$1 for a game I guess? I'm not very sure..
That's what the guy told us. Haha..

The darts machine.

Cute Hello Kitty Dart Board.

After exploring Bugis+, we back home and fetch my family down to Novena for dinner!

Trying this Korean BBQ intro by my sis.
The place was over crowded at 8PM.
It was crazy!
Luckily I made prior reservation. -_-

As you can see mostly meat! D;
Its not a place that I like to go for food because I don't really like eating meat with fats.
Look at the amount of fats! My god! -_-

Anyway the food was decent.
I love the chicken soup, its nice!
For as much as you can take, its $22 per pax (excluding other charges).

We saw a couple beside our table wasted a big amount of food!
Like seriously? If you cant finish the food don't take so much lah!
There's other people suffering in poverty lea..
Why can't this people be more considerate?

Another problem is a girl behind our table, who's acting like a bitch.
Its like we didn't do anything to them but they showing black face and rolled eyes at my bro's gf!
No manners! If she want space, just open mouth and ask, is it so difficult?!
I don't know why she need to be so rude!

Nonetheless, we still had a good dinner together! :D

After dinner, we went to Udders for desserts before heading back home.

Its always special occasion like this that bond us together.
Usually when we are at home, we stayed in our room or living room, using computers or watching TV.
Its only when time like this, we talk openly sharing our experiences, talking about the happy past.
I like this kind of bonding. Its priceless :)

Marukin Ramen Tokyo

I met up with Tommy for dinner earlier.
Its like an almost monthly catching up.
This time, we went to Scotts Square at Orchard to try a ramen.
Unlike the other time whereby we go to neighborhood shopping center for dinner.
Anyway Scotts Square opened not too long ago only and it is located near Far East Plaza.

As you know, in Singapore there's too much competition among the Japanese ramen.
The first ramen that I ever ate is Ajisen ramen and I still quite like it.
Now there's so many stores that sells ramen.
I've tried Santouka Ramen, Ippudo Ramen and Ramen Champion.
Ippudo Ramen is the best that I like now.
And I am waiting to try Marutama Ramen.

So today, the one I tried is Marukin Ramen Tokyo.

To our suprised, the store is not restaurant.
When we were there, we were quite reluctant to try after we see the store but in the end still give it a shot.

Tommy ordered Tsukemen, a dipping noodle dish. (S14.90)
It is topped with chicken chaysu, nitamago, mikurage mushrooms, green onions and sesame with marukin ramen's famed dipping sauce on the side.

And my order is: Tori Dukushi Shoyu (S$13.90)
The bowl of ramen is topped with slices of Chicken Chasyu, Chicken meat balls, a piece of Chicken wing, Kikurage mushrooms, Green Onions and a dash of sesame seeds.

We also ordered a few side dishes like Hiyayakko Chilled Tofu (S$3.90), Edamame (S$3.90) and Chicken Chasyu (S$6.90).

For my Tori Dukushi Shoyu, I like the texture of the noodle as it is not too soft and not too hard, just right.
The meatball is good too.
I love the taste of the chicken broth too.

Overall, it is worth the try.
The price is not very expensive too.
And we got 20% discount because Tommy has JCB card. :O

The Ship Restaurant

Met up with BF, Veron and Shin for dinner after work at The Ship Restaurant; Nex.

I always passed by this restaurant but didnt get to try it and now I finally did!
The ambience in the restaurant is quite nice place to chill out with friends or partners.
We ordered the set dinner meal which include soup of the day, main, dessert of the day and drink.

Veron and I ate the Seafood Harvest set.
Set include salmon, dory fish, scallops, prawns and vegetables.
For me, i feel that the dory fish tasted blend.
Veron said that the scallop smell very fish.

BF and Shin ate the Ship Combo set.
Set include pork, chicken, prawns and vegetables.
BF didnt like the pork because its very hard to chew.

Mint ice cream for BF.

Choco ice cream for me.

Overall, it's not bad.
BF was interested with the hot plate when he saw other customer order it.
So he said that we can go back to try that. :)

I'll end this post with the photos for the day with my love one. Y

The Fern Tree Cafe @ Hotel Miramar

BF bought the voucher from a deal website in order to try the buffet.
It cost only $29 for dinner.
I think the price is cheap as compare to other buffet.
There are wide varieties ranges from Asian (Chinese, Malay, Indian) to Western food.

We started with the appetizer

and fruit first. Haha..

I regret to take the bread not because it tasted bad but I left it to the last to eat and the bread is as hard as stone. -.-

Salmon sashimi is good!

All the small amount of food we took to try.

Herbal chicken soup and cream carrot soup.

Desserts!

This is the only desserts that I aimed.

BF also got crab pincers.
He was lucky to get it first when they serve it. Haha..

Overall, some dishes are good and some are not.
I think its quite worth the price for the food we ate.
BF said we can come again next time. :)
